People see a psychologist for a variety of different reasons; relationship breakdown, trauma, feeling stuck, life dissatisfaction, workplace difficulties, fatigue, feeling overwhelmed, wanting to offload to someone who doesn't know them, or sometimes they don't know what is wrong.

Therapy can help when;
-
You're feeling flat and overwhelmed a lot of the time
-
You feel teary or irritable regularly
-
You feel like you are living in a mouse wheel
-
Life seems like it is never good
-
You continually have difficult relationships
-
You are self medicating with drugs or alcohol
-
You feel no joy
-
You avoid thinking about the past/your feelings
-
You feel out of control
-
You feel like no one is kind in the world anymore
-
Your family are driving you crazy

The joy in being a psychologist is getting to know you and helping you find a new way of getting through life, where you begin to enjoy it again.

My name is Sharon Devine. I'm a Clinical Psychologist who has worked in a variety of different settings, including private practice, employment assistance schemes, and Government settings.

I specifically work with adults, and not adolescents or children.
I work from a place of acceptance, providing a warm and non-judgemental space, allowing my clients to explore issues that may be preventing them from living a more fulfilling life.
I hold a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. I use a variety of approaches to assist my clients including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Techniques.
What to Expect
Your first session will take around 50 minutes. This session will be about getting a full picture of your history, what you would like help with, and your goals. If you are unsure, that's ok- thats where I come in. Many clients are nervous in regards to how to start, or what to say. It's my job to lead the way, and ask the questions.

Additional sessions run for the same amount of time. Usually people will make the initial sessions weekly, and then change to fortnightly as they begin to notice an improvement. It is quite normal to feel drained after the initial session- this should only last for a day, and I recommend to do something soothing, or just take some time to do something you enjoy.
